Course Goal / Objective
Teaching goe-referenced information extraction methods to be used in natural resource management using remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS).
Course Content
The function of remote sensing and geographic information systems (GIS) in terms of resource management, limiting factors in the use of information technologies. Features of terrestrial data, data entry, displaying and querying terrestrial data. Evaluation of time, speed, precision and cost advantages of information technologies for effective resource management, habitat mapping, environmental processes, detection of habitat changes as an indicator of pressures on resources, geographical reference identification of the relationship and contradictions between urban and rural development strategies and resource potential, terrestrial data transformation Inputs to resource planning and management from map querying, upstream and downstream remote sensing and GIS applications, spatial and temporal distribution and interpretation of pollution and change, remote sensing and quality control of products obtained from GIS constitute the scope of the course.
