Course Goal / Objective

The purposes of this course are to give knowledges on importance of cytology and cytogenetics for plant breeding, plant cell and its organelles, structure and fonctions of chromosomes, mitotic cell division, meiotic cell division, caryotype analysis, changes in number and structure of chromosomes, and to learn the makink of squash preparates from plant tissues and observing the chromosomes under microscope.

Course Content

Subjects such as importance of cytology and cytogenetics for plant breeding, plant cell and its organelles, structure and fonctions of chromosomes, mitotic cell division, meiotic cell division, caryotype analysis, changes in number and structure of chromosomes will be discussed, will be done laboratory work on making of squash preparates from plant tissues and observing the chromosomes under microscope.
