Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to teach optical information to help explain non-linear optical events.
Course Content
The physical origin of optical nonlinearities; Wave - equation description of nonlinear optical interactions; Quantum mechanical theory of the nonlinear optical susceptibility; The intensity - dependent refractive index; Nonlinear optics in the two-level approximation; Spontaneous light scattering and acousto-optics; The electrooptic and photorefractive effects; Fiiber optic systems; Lasers; Mathematical and computational methods.
