Course Goal / Objective
-To teach the theoretical framework that reveals the relationship between concepts such as rural landscape planning, ecotourism, rural tourism, agrotourism, gastronomic tourism. -To discuss the alternative tourism potential of the rural areas of Adana province with the sustainable approach. -To examine the transfer of gastronomic tourism to rural planning as a type of tourism related to supply and cultural services, which is included in the ecosystem services of Adana's countryside. -Emphasising that gastronomy tourism is an important tool to support rural women's employment, discussing the necessity of conducting sectoral planning processes in this context. -To discuss the possibilities of transferring Adana province, especially the northern mountainous region (Feke, Saimbeyli, Tufanbeyli) to gastronomy tourism and rural development. -To discuss the reflection of Adana's gastronomic tourism in spatial plans and the goals of plan decisions.
Course Content
"Rural landscape planning" and "tourism/recreation planning", which are the fundamental topics of landscape planning, are included in the course in a general framework within sample of Adana. Besides, the scope of the course includes the examination of concepts with multidisciplinary fields of study such as "rural planning" and "tourism" will be examined specifically in terms of theoretical framework and spatial planning within the scope of the course. The content and functioning of the course is associated with the objectives of Çukurova University UN Sustainable Development Studies, which are 11-Sustainable Cities and Communities in general framework and 5-Gender Equality in its scope emphasising the place of women's employment in rural development. In this general framework, the scope of the course covers the following topics. - Rural landscape plans&targets that will ensure the sustainability of the natural and cultural values of rural areas, which is one of the fundamental instruments of rural development. - Among the most important planning instruments in the preparation of these plans is the agriculture and tourism sector, especially for Türkiye. In this context, evaluation of gastronomic tourism within the framework of rural tourism that includes these two concepts. -Gastronomic tourism within the tourism inventory for rural areas of our country and Adana province and its possibilities to disseminate it to spatial plans.
