Course Goal / Objective
To evaluate the legal problems related to the earthquake from the perspective of human rights. Recognizing the deficiencies of the Law on Aid to be Taken with Measures to Be Taken Due to Disasters Affecting Public Life in terms of human rights. To contribute to the development of legal literacy related to earthquakes.
Course Content
The content of the earthquake law clinic course was created based on the weak legal literacy in our country. As it is known, legal literacy is not only limited to having knowledge about rights, but also a skill related to interpreting the law. In addition, legal literacy is also related to ordinary citizens' taking responsibility, since the persons to be given legal information are not only information-contributor objects, but also people who have the capacity to change their own conditions by becoming stronger. For this reason, in our clinical study of earthquake law, Ioanna Kuçuradi's human rights view, which imposes responsibility on ordinary people, was preferred instead of the human rights view based only on protecting citizens against rights violations from states. Because Kuçuradi's view of human rights is not the state as an institution to be fought; It is convenient for earthquake law clinic work as it is based on seeing the state as a human institution with the potential to be transformed in a way that protects human rights. In this direction, human rights problems related to the earthquake will be discussed based on Kuçuradi's human rights view.
