Course Goal / Objective

To enable students to recognize, correctly place, and compare word and sentence stress in English; to identify and explain sound phenomena observed in English; to recognize and use connected speech forms accurately in pronunciation. To improve their English pronunciation levels and listening skills.

Course Content

Connected speech forms in pronunciation: Linking, intrusion, elision, assimilation, flapping, glottalization, catenation Similar and different sounds between Turkish and English Stress and intonation differences between Turkish and English Contents, characteristics, and commonly used expressions in academic language speeches Contents, characteristics, and commonly used expressions in everyday language speeches International Phonetic Alphabet
