Course Goal / Objective

This course aims to help the students recognize impact of ruminant nutrition on our planet and, also, give informations to the student about a sustainable way to mitigate methane emissions from ruminants, meeting but not exceeding nutrient requirements, especially, nitrogen, phosphorus.

Course Content

Interactions between ruminants and the environment, nitrogen and phosphorus requirements of ruminant, nitrogen and phosphorus metabolisms in rumen, improving the efficiency of nutrient use on ruminant operations, Methane production by ruminants and its contribution to global warming.

Course Precondition

General Animal Nutrition and Ruminant Nuttion or approval of the instructors are needed.

Course Learning Outcomes

Order Course Learning Outcomes
LO01 Student(s) will be thoughted what is the effects of ruminants on our planet and also how can be decreased these negative effects while we continue the production. In addition, student(s) will identify interactions between environment and ruminant production.
LO02 Student(s) will identify interactions between environment and ruminant production.
LO03 Stundents should be able to explain the rumen environment, physiology and metabolic pathways
LO04 Students should be able to explain the different systems of energy and protein partitioning.
