Course Goal / Objective
To determine the factors influencing the variation of biological materials under the static load effects, to investigate the variation of mechanical properties in the storage, packaging and other post-harvest technology and to find out the effects of mechanical properties of biological materials on design criteria of related machines.
Course Content
Behavior of biological materials under the quasi-static loads, definition related to mechanical properties, factors influencing the mechanical properties, determining the design parameters and mechanical properties required for post-harvest technology, Hertz contact theory, Elasticity theory, visco-elasticty, and biotechnical behavior of materials, mechanical properties of cushioning materials used in the harvest and post-harvest technology, definition of friction, static and dynamic coefficient of friction
