Course Goal / Objective

To formulate the physical properties of crystals by using tensor notations.

Course Content

General Principles, Basic of crystal physics. Secon rank tensor, transformation and advanced application Paramagnetic and diamagnetic susceptibility Electric polarization Stress tensor Strain tensor and thermal expansion Piezoelectricity; third rank tensors. Elasticity; foruth rank tensors. Matrix method; Matrix and tensor notation, matrix algebra, crystal properties in matrix notation. Thermodynamics of eqilibrium states of crystals. Thermal and electric conductivity Thermoelectricity Crystal Optics Optic Activity
