Course Goal / Objective

To recognize the tradition of Shiite thought that emerged in the early periods of the history of Islamic thought and to grasp its place in Islamic thought.

Course Content

Basic concepts and sources of the tradition of Shiite thought; The reasons that are effective in the birth of Shiism; Shiite claims and analysis of the birth of Shi'ism; The emergence of the first Shiite ideas; The first Shiite movements of the Umayyad period; Shia imamate theory; The process of differentiation in the Shiite tradition; The birth of Shiite sects, their formation processes, their basic views, important representatives, the regions where they spread, their literature and subgroups; Contemporary studies on Shiism
