Explore Current Research: To familiarize students with the latest research trends, methodologies, and findings in the field of SLA. Bridge Theory and Practice: To demonstrate the practical implications of SLA research in language teaching and curriculum design. Critical Analysis: To cultivate the ability to critically analyze and evaluate SLA research studies, identifying their strengths, weaknesses, and potential applications in the classroom. Hands-on Experience: To offer opportunities for students to design and conduct mini-research projects, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world contexts. Collaborative Learning: To promote collaborative discussions and group projects, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of diverse perspectives in SLA research and teaching. Professional Development: To prepare students for advanced roles in language education, equipping them with the knowledge and skills to integrate SLA research into their teaching practices.
Course Content
This graduate course delves into the intricate relationship between second language acquisition (SLA) research and its practical implications for language teaching. Students will explore foundational theories of SLA, current research trends, and the application of these findings in real-world language teaching contexts. Through a combination of readings, discussions, and hands-on projects, participants will gain a deeper understanding of how SLA research can inform and enhance modern language teaching methodologies.
