Course Goal / Objective
The aim of the course is to teach people that language basically exists to convey meaning, that all linguistic and grammatical studies are basically semantic studies, that the boundaries of semantics cannot be drawn and that it is difficult to establish its methodology.
Course Content
The location of semantics in gramer and linguistics, to question the definition and meaning of meaning, the meaning-concept relationship, the relationship of semantics with analytical philosophy, J. Trier's Concepts Field Theory, Doğan Aksan' Concepts Area and Words Family Opinion, E. Rosh's Prototype Theory, M. Jhonson and G. Lakoff's theory of metaphor, the semantics of word and semantics of sentence.
