Course Goal / Objective
with the scope of this course to understand the use of entomopathogenic nematodes in the control against agricultural pests and to increase their use will teach. It is aimed to understand the necessity of biological control in order to minimize residue and environmental pollution in agricultural production and the importance of entomopathogenic nematodes in the control against pests.
Course Content
Within the scope of this course, it is aimed to identify and classify important entomopathogenic nematodes and to teach techniques for production and comparison to plant parasitic nematodes. Importance of entomopathogenic nematodes, definition and morphology of entomopathogenic nematodes, Bacterial and nematode symbiotic life, Isolation and recovery of entomopathogenic nematodes from the soil, biology, host finding behavior of entomopathogenic nematodes, mass production of entomopathogenic nematodes in vivo, mass production of entomopathogenic nematodes in vitro, advantages of entomopathogenic nematodes, Topics such as preparation and preservation of entomopathogenic nematodes and application of entomopathogenic nematodes against harmful insects will be covered.
