Course Goal / Objective
The aim is to focus on plant reactions against biotic and abiotic stress factors within the framework of basic concepts and principles of physiology; to present the single and multiple effects of various stress factors in different plant variety and species under controlled conditions; to point out the impacts of environmental factors on plant production.
Course Content
Reactions against stress factors like high or low temperature, drought, high light, salinity, mineral deficiency or toxicity, plant pathogens. Cell destruction and defense mechanisms of plant under stress, methods and practices to characterize such cases and mechanisms. Measurements of chlorophyll, lipid peroxidation, membrane permeability, ascorbate, glutathione, superoxide dismutase, catalase, ascorbate peroxidase, glutathione reductase.
