Course Goal / Objective
This course will provide a detailed historical overview of EU-Turkey relations, starting from 1960s till today. It focuses on application of Turkey to EC and the negotiations made between Turkey and the EU, highlighting the conflicts raised between both sides during this process. It introduces students to conceptual and theoretical explanation of EU-Turkey relations from a historical, political, economic and legal perspective.
Course Content
The historical background of Turkey-EU relations, Turkey's candidacy process and its place in the EU's enlargement policy, the Customs Union and its sustainability, and the evaluation of the rights arising from the Association Law in the light of case law
