Course Goal / Objective
It is aimed to introduce the main methods and tools/devices used in structural material characterization and to teach the examination and analysis of material structure and properties.
Course Content
Introduction to Materials Characterization, Methods of Materials Characterization, Material Preparation for Analysis, Matters Needing Attention for Material Preparation and Analysis, Material and Microstructural Geometry, Optical Microscope, Material Preparation for Optic Microscope and Method of Microstructural Analysis, SEM Analysis, Material Preparation for SEM, Microstructural-Morphological Analysis Method, Definition of XRF, Interpretation of Chemical Composition and Loss of Burning, Working Principle of X-Ray Diffraction (X-Ray) Device, Phase Analysis and Interpretation, Definition of DSC Method, Interpretation of Obtained Experimental Outcomes and Graphics, Definition of DTA-TGA Method, Interpretation of Obtained Experimental Outcomes and Graphics, Analysis and Interpretation of FTIR Analysis, Analysis and Interpretation of XPS Analysis, Analysis and Interpretation of AFM Analysis.
