Course Goal / Objective
This course aims to provide an understanding of exercise physiology in veterinary medicine, focusing on exercise adaptation and requirements in different animal species. Topics include physiological mechanisms during exercise, homeostatic regulations, species-specific exercise needs, and comparative evaluations.
Course Content
This course aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the effects of exercise on physiological processes in veterinary medicine by covering fundamental concepts of exercise physiology, the structure and functions of skeletal muscles, neuromuscular communication and muscle contraction mechanisms, control mechanisms of movement, energy metabolism during exercise, the roles of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems during exercise, hormonal regulations, thermoregulation and fluid-electrolyte balance, nutrition and exercise tolerance, exercise physiology in horses and companion animals, the impact of genetic factors on exercise, and the relationship between exercise and rehabilitation.
