Course Goal / Objective
To equip students with a fundamental understanding of biological processes in wastewater treatment, microbial kinetics, process design principles, and the ability to evaluate the efficiency of biological treatment systems.
Course Content
Fundamental principles of biological wastewater treatment, the role of microorganisms in wastewater treatment, biochemical reactions and microbial kinetics, activated sludge system and operational parameters, anaerobic and aerobic treatment systems, nitrogen and phosphorus removal, advanced biological treatment technologies, and process optimization.
Course Precondition
Students are expected to have a fundamental understanding of microbiology and water/wastewater treatment processes.
