Course Goal / Objective

To provide design-oriented thinking skills and to combine design with knowledge of materials and production processes.

Course Content

Introduction to engineering design. Definition of “design.” The relationship between science, technology, and design. The design process. 5-step design process, 12-step design process. Teamwork. Creativity. The importance of communication. Innovation. The relationship between creativity, innovation, and engineering design.
