Course Goal / Objective

The aim is to teach the causes, mechanisms, and risk factors of common injuries in athletes; to develop injury prevention strategies; to familiarize participants with first aid procedures in case of injury; and to define the role of the coach/sports scientist in the return-to-sport process after rehabilitation.

Course Content

The epidemiology of sports injuries, injury mechanisms (acute and chronic), soft tissue and bone injuries, regional injuries (knee, shoulder, ankle, etc.), sport-specific injury types, injury prevention methods (warm-up, stretching, strength training), emergency intervention on sports fields (RICE/POLICE protocols), bandaging, and return-to-sport criteria are discussed.

LO07 The player understands the coach's responsibilities in the process of returning to the field/sport after an injury.
LO08 They are aware of the injury risks specific to the growth period in child and young athletes.
