Course Goal / Objective

To teach behavioral characteristics in poultry and to provide information about the importance of the relationship between behavior, welfare, and productivity

Course Content

The definition of behavior; the role of the central nervous system and the endocrine system; social hierarchy in poultry; the relationship between feeding behavior, reproductive behavior, and performance; comfort behaviors in poultry and the influence of the environment; fear behavior and stress in poultry; abnormal behaviors, their causes and solutions; the adaptation abilities of poultry to their environment; different methods used in measuring behavior; behavioral tests used in measuring fear levels
