Course Content

Academic English for Theology Faculty students is designed not only to refine advanced language skills but also to equip participants with the competencies required to thrive in today’s interconnected academic and professional world. In the 21st century, scholars are expected to engage critically with global research, communicate across cultures, and publish in international forums. This course therefore plays a vital role in preparing theology students to meet those demands: it strengthens their ability to read complex theological texts with discernment, to write persuasively and coherently in scholarly formats, and to present ideas confidently in academic discussions. Beyond language proficiency, the course fosters essential 21st‑century skills such as critical thinking, digital literacy, intercultural communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving, ensuring that graduates are not only competent theologians but also agile contributors to global academic and faith communities. In this way, Academic English becomes a bridge between theological tradition and contemporary scholarly practice, empowering students to participate meaningfully in international dialogue and research.
