Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to enable students to understand the role of supervision in the psychological counseling process, to become familiar with different supervision models, and to develop the ability to evaluate counseling practices under supervision. In addition, the course aims to enhance students’ professional awareness, foster ethical sensitivity, and improve their skills in providing structured feedback.
Course Content
• Definition, historical development, and fundamental concepts of supervision • Functions of supervision in psychological counseling • Supervision models (e.g., developmental, discrimination model) • The supervision process and its stages • The supervisory relationship and the therapeutic alliance • Ethical principles and confidentiality • Skills in giving and receiving feedback • Case presentation and case discussions • Supervision practices based on video/recordings • Cultural sensitivity and individual differences • Power dynamics and boundaries in supervision • Self-evaluation and reflective practices • Professional development and the role of supervision
