Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to enable students to assess the pathophysiological processes of patients under observation in the intensive care unit, monitor their vital signs, plan and deliver safe nursing care in high-tech care settings, and develop a holistic approach to the critically ill patient.
Course Content
Fundamental concepts of intensive care nursing, characteristics of intensive care units, assessment of critically ill patients, haemodynamic monitoring, mechanical ventilation, oxygen therapy, fluid -electrolyte balance, shock, sepsis, multiple organ failure, management of sedation and analgesia, enteral and parenteral nutrition, infection control, prevention of pressure ulcers, ethical issues in intensive care, and patient safety.
