Course Goal / Objective

This course, which defines the basic stages of a scientific research and different research designs, aims to equip students with the skills to formulate a scientific research problem, conduct a literature review, learn sampling, measurement and scaling methods, evaluate data collection and analysis techniques, and prepare a research report in accordance with scientific ethical rules.

Course Content

This course covers research methods in the social sciences. Students will first be introduced to the theoretical foundations of scientific research, then learn the research design process and different research designs. This will be followed by sampling, measurement and scaling, and data collection techniques. Next, the focus will be on qualitative data and analysis, research designs, and data analysis. Descriptive analysis, hypothesis testing, regression, content analysis, and case studies will be introduced as data analysis methods. Finally, scientific research ethics and how to write a research report will be covered.
