Course Goal / Objective
The aim of this course is to provide students with basic knowledge and awareness of sustainability, resource efficiency, energy use, waste reduction, environmental impact, and circular economy in production processes. Within the scope of the course, students are expected to be able to evaluate traditional manufacturing processes in terms of their environmental, economic, and social impacts, and to recognize more efficient, environmentally conscious, and sustainable production approaches at a basic level and transfer them to professional practices.
Course Content
Concepts of sustainability and green production; environmental, economic, and social impacts of production processes; resource, energy, and water efficiency; waste reduction and recovery; clean production approaches; the relationship between lean production and green production; sustainable material selection; product life cycle thinking; concepts of carbon footprint and environmental impact; circular economy, recycling, reuse, and remanufacturing approaches; green supply chain and examples of sustainable production practices.
